well its your lucky day!
i have fallen in love with soft pretzels. big warm yummy pretzels and i do not mean the kind you find at a football game. there is an amazing restaurant and brewery who offer 2 pretzels as an appetizer! they are divine. well then i discovered the flying saucer thanks to the boys yearning for beers and they have beyond delish pretzels for an appetizer! luckily both marsh and i love the flying saucer and we have the coolest one right here in nashville. it is officially our monday night football joint (i know i am such a boy at the moment, but i am def being a great wife!). then this past saturday we went to baileys, a bar and grill place, to hang out with the lsu alumni nashville chapter folks. they had pretzels as an appetizer as well! i am just one lucky girl! they are delicious and completely different at all places.
anyways i made banana bread on saturday and it actually turned out beyond edible to the point of mmmm delicious! feeling quite confident i located bobby flay's pretzel receipe from the episode of throwdown in which he actually won.
sunday, while marsh watched football all day, i decided to try my hand at making pretzels from scratch. besides i had a lovely green kitchen aid stand mixer with a dough hook calling my name. i gathered up all the ingredients and away i went! one of the best parts was making the dough (my own dough!) and then letting it sit and rise. it totally doubled up in size, so cool! then i cut into 8 pieces, rolled out the dough and twisted into classic pretzel shape. much more difficult then you might imagine. the directions said: "take right side and cross over left. cross right to left again and flip up" it took me several tries to get it semi right and even then after having to boil them for 30 seconds the shape faded.
