it is christmas for us already and it's not even december! we bought gwen, our lovely christmas tree, thanksgiving evening. gwen sure is a beauty! she is not over decked out with ornaments but instead tells a story with her ornaments. ever since marsh and i started dating i bought each of us an ornament for that christmas. we started dating in 2005 and that was when i purchased our first ornaments, a wooden platypus and wombat. those were an inside
joke between the two of us that year. the following year i created my own ornaments online where i chose a different picture of
us for each ornament. the next year we picked out our lsu ornaments since obviously 2007 was the year of the tiger (marsh picked the helmet while i
was loyal to mike!). after moving to music city i decided it was best to go with a guitar and tambourine (marsh loves the guitar and even though i am musically challenged i went with the tambourine!)
well if you are keeping track, that would mean we would only have a grand total of 8 ornaments! seeing the lack of ornaments we opted to buy a few more this year. we found amazing woodland creatures, an owl and a hedgehog, as well as a glass pickle and a pig. the pickle is another inside joke and the pig obviously represents my potbellied pig i will get one day!
i know we may not have a bucket full of ornaments but instead we opt for ornaments that go in pairs and that have a story behind them. we don't want generic ornaments for gwen (generic ornaments do make a tree look great though don't get me wrong) you know us we have to be different! haha!
marsh had a great idea to put garland on our mantle! it looks quite snazzy especially once we picked out our stocking holders and hung up our stockings. we even have a fireplace so it totally looks legit! :)
i really wanted a tree skirt but didn't want to spend the money for one since christmas is rolling into town and money can be tight. i had some felt from my unmade tomato costume so being the creative person i am decided to make my own tree skirt! i was inspired by this
wrapping paper marsh picked out with poinsettias on it. the only problem is, i had more green felt than red felt. i decided to reverse the colors. to be honest i had no idea what i was doing but i am pretty proud of the end result! it totally looks homemade but who cares, i love it!
christmas decorations are in full swing around the offutt apartment! both of us are so pumped for christmas! so much that we are pretty much done with christmas shopping! we have a few more gifts to find but other than that our tree is filling out with gifts.....already! its so crazy, its not even december!
who cares, its christmas time!!!
