what were you thinking?

this is my thought:
if i was a famous county singer asked to sing at the CMA Awards, i would a) be thrilled/maybe nervous (depending on how many times i had performed at the time) and b) automatically think "oooh what am i going to where?"
i am not famous nor do i go to award shows but i am constantly thinking to myself, "oooh what could i wear for that." example: we are heading back to baton rouge next weekend and will get to see our one and only game live, lsu vs ole miss. the trip is not for another week (and were even going to austin this weekend for a wedding) BUT i already find myself deciding on a game day outfit. thats how much i think about what i want to wear.
getting back to the point, as i recorded the CMA's last night and then watched them later on, i found myself thinking, "what were you thinking?" aside from a couple of performers and carrie underwood's constant dress changes through out the night, the stage looked
like the performers were at a funeral, not wowing the world with their talent. as the backstage lit up in colors of the rainbow, the majority of the performers stood proudly in their ALL black ensemble. (pictured above is martina mcbride in her outfit from the 2007 awards but she wore pretty much the same thing last night) seriously, each performer had their own version of an all black outfit. from a tight little mini dress with thigh high black boots, to black pants with a black shirt toped off with a black cowboy hat and black boots, the combination of black was endless along with bleak.
what happened to the good ole country days where big and color was in? (bring it back loretta! well maybe not the whole dress but at least the color!) i am not knocking country music these days because obviously i am a huge fan but man where has the style gone? even carrie underwood who co-hosted the event rocked a positively hideous dress while performing but lathered herself in color and style for the rest of the show. did i miss the memo to wear all black while performing? well, of course i would, i wasn't asked to perform this year's awards! but apparently one or two other performers missed it to, including one of my favorites, taylor swift who rocked a purple dress that was later ripped off to reveal a white dress. way to step outside of the black box taylor!
anyways, i know many of yall missed out of the cma's so i just felt the need to stand on my soap box and vent a bit! if i had some money to spend on major clothes for a performance, i would at least make sure i looked good!
