opryland is this massive resort on the other side of nashville (click on the title of this post and it will take you to their website, check it out!). it is gorgeous any time of the year but during christmas it is even more gorgeous! christmas lights twinkling everywhere, elves hidden all around, poinsettias in every direction. it's breath taking!
we had a wonderful christmas weekend. unfortunately, marsh and i will not be able to be in midland this year for christmas as we will be heading to florida, so my family decided to have a nashville christmas. the weekend was jam packed with events and bonding with the family (aww! haha!)
friday night we had tickets to see the rockettes at the grand ole opry! the show was incredible, these girls are crazily talented. what else can get you more in the christmas mood? this was probably my favorite part of the weekend, although there were so many highlights of the festive weekend!
saturday we had tickets to ice! how the grinch stole christmas. none of us really knew what to expect with this show, all we knew is the name and that it was the last year for the grinch. after arriving at the theatre we had to stand in a line outside for supposedly 45 minutes. now the temperature for the weekend didn't even reach 50 degrees. it reached 40 on
a good day. i wanna say it was in the 30s as we were standing outside! luckily the line moved much faster than it was suppose to. but the real kicker was noticing how they handed out giant blue parkas for everyone heading into the theatre. come to find out, its a walk thru show made entirely of ice! (makes sense considering the name, ice!) this meant that the inside temperature was 9 degrees (no joke!) thus the need for giant parkas! i definitely chose the wrong day to wear super thin dress socks (ouch!). anyways, the ice sculptures were incredible, very vibrant and breathtaking! i have posted an album to the left chronicling our journey for the weekend! all the pictures of the grinch and family were taken at the show. meaning they are all ice sculptures! there was even an ice slide you could go down, very cold let me inform you! haha! even though i lost feeling in my toes and fingers, i had a great time! while standing in line outside i had this sinking feeling that as cold as it was outside we were about to be even colder inside! haha, i was definitely right!
we used the weekend to enjoy the festivities that were offered to us and enjoy time with my family! it was a great and extremely busy weekend but i am so glad they were all able to come up!
it was very weird to take a vacation in the town you actually live in but i would honestly jump at the chance to stay there anytime! it's like a mini world out at opryland! i am never gonna want to leave vegas come feb! (more details on that later but yes were going to vegas baby!!)
enjoy the slideshow i posted! hopefully it will spread the christmas cheer!!
christmas will be here before we know it!
